Week Three of Summer 2026 turns our focus toward communication and comprehension. Integrity helped us show up. Responsibility helped us follow through. Communication helps us keep one another informed before confusion turns into distance.
Communication is not just talking. It is listening, clarifying, asking, answering, reminding, inviting, defining words, and helping someone comprehend what they do not understand yet.
Many disagreements do not begin because people are enemies. They begin because people hear words differently, define words differently, remember experiences differently, or assume they already understand.
Friends keep friends informed. Families stay stronger when they speak with respect. Communities stay healthier when people communicate before they assume, accuse, disappear, or leave others guessing.
The goal is not merely to speak. The goal is to understand and be understood.

Week Three Theme
Communication is the bridge between intention and comprehension.
It is not enough to mean well. We must learn to say what we mean, listen to what is being said, and ask again when we do not understand.
Communication is how friendship becomes accountable, how family becomes safer, and how community becomes connected.
Comprehension is what happens when information becomes understanding.

The world may teach people to talk over each other, cancel quietly, disappear, or assume the worst.
The Gospel teaches us to listen, speak truth with love, forgive, invite, correct with care, and restore connection where possible.
Integrity shows up. Responsibility follows through. Communication keeps the door open. Comprehension helps us walk through it together.
Friends do not leave friends uninformed. Friends help one another comprehend what they do not yet understand.

Communication begins when we care enough to be understood.
- say what needs to be said,
- speak with respect,
- define words when needed,
- give people the information they need,
- and clarify before confusion becomes conflict.
Clear communication is a form of charity because it helps others walk in the light with us.

Listen Before You Assume
Communication is not complete until listening has happened.
A true friend does not only wait for their turn to talk. A true friend listens for meaning, asks better questions, and gives another person room to explain what they do not yet know how to say.
Listening is service. Clarifying is kindness. Asking before assuming is friendship in action.
When we listen with patience, we make room for comprehension.

Our Inheritance Is Comprehension
As Latter-day Saints, our inheritance is not only information. It is comprehension.
Christ did not merely know truth. He taught truth in ways people could receive, remember, apply, and live.
- He listened.
- He asked questions.
- He taught by stories.
- He remembered people.
- He spoke with power and compassion.
- He helped people understand truth line upon line.
Week Three invites us to practice that same pattern in our friendships, families, classrooms, online spaces, and community tables.

“Appoint among yourselves a teacher, and let not all be spokesmen at once; but let one speak at a time and let all listen unto his sayings, that when all have spoken that all may be edified of all.”
The purpose of communication is not merely speaking. The purpose is that all may be edified.
To edify means to build. When communication creates greater comprehension, individuals are strengthened, families are strengthened, and communities are strengthened.
Communication without listening creates noise. Communication with comprehension creates unity.
