Ministering Through Service

Ministering means seeing a need and filling it.

Welcome to the beginning of our 10 Weeks Of Standing Tall Summer Sessions. This week begins with Memorial Day, a time to remember sacrifice, service, family, freedom, stewardship, and the responsibility that comes with standing tall.

This summer we focus on learning not just how to use technology, but why we use it, how it works, and how we use it responsibly.

At W3Connect and Does This Help®, we believe children of the stake can speak, students can teach, and families can learn together.

Memorial Day Reflection

This Week One Of Ten begins during Memorial Day Weekend.

We remember those who sacrificed their time, strength, service, safety, and in many cases their lives, so future generations could continue learning, growing, worshipping, building, and standing tall together.

Memorial Day reminds us that freedom comes with responsibility, stewardship, sacrifice, and service.

Standing Tall With Integrity means remembering those who came before us and honoring their efforts through the way we live today.

The world teaches: “Focus on what you want.”

The Gospel teaches: “Humble yourself before God, serve others, and become worthy of greater stewardship.”

Fasting is not simply going without food. It is learning discipline over appetite, emotion, pride, and selfishness.

Real service is not slavery. Real service comes with willingness, honesty, humility, and wisdom.

Standing Tall with integrity means helping others without losing yourself, serving without being used, and learning how to build systems that bless families instead of draining them.

Integrity Through Action

Many people say they value integrity, but integrity is not proven by words alone.

  • doing the work nobody sees,
  • telling the truth even when uncomfortable,
  • admitting mistakes,
  • improving systems,
  • and serving without needing applause.

Operations workers, coordinators, teachers, mothers, fathers, organizers, receptionists, and helpers often become invisible once things begin functioning correctly.

But Heaven sees the unseen work.

Integrity means we continue choosing what is right even when others overlook our contribution.

Speaker Two — 10 Minutes

Service, Boundaries, And Stewardship

Service should strengthen a community — not destroy the person serving.

There is a difference between helping, enabling, and being consumed by others’ expectations.

A person without money may still serve through teaching, organizing, encouraging, listening, creating, repairing, mentoring, or simply showing up faithfully.

The Savior served constantly, yet He also rested, withdrew to pray, and taught responsibility.

Standing Tall means learning when to help, when to teach, and when to say: “I cannot carry this alone anymore.”

That is not weakness. That is stewardship.

Children Of The Stake Speak

One of the greatest blessings in the Church is hearing children and youth speak with honesty and faith.

This summer is not just about adults teaching children. It is about families learning together, students discovering confidence, and youth understanding they already have gifts to offer.

Technology is not evil. But technology without understanding can become dangerous.

  • how systems work,
  • why communication matters,
  • how information flows,
  • and how discipline creates balance.

Education begins at the kitchen table, inside the home, through conversation, through accountability, and through example.

Children remember what adults model more than what adults say.

Closing Thought

Standing Tall does not mean standing above others.

It means standing honest, standing accountable, standing teachable, standing faithful, and standing with integrity even when life becomes difficult.

This summer we invite every family to simplify, reconnect, learn together, communicate better, and remember that intelligence is not only what we know — but how we use what we know to bless others.

As Memorial Day begins this summer season, may we remember: freedom, family, faith, and community are sustained through service, sacrifice, accountability, and love.
